Re: Oil filter question
Sure. Just make sure you add oil after. You're going to lose oil when you remove it, both the oil that pours out and the oil that is in the filter. So check it and add accordingly. Probably up to a quart.

Re: Oil filter question
You will only lose the oil that is in the filter. The rest will remain in the engine/pan. When you replace the filter rub a small amount of clean new oil on the rubber ring before
installing the filter. Only hand tighten the new filter. Do not use a wrench. Check the oil level and add the amount needed to the fill mark.

Alrite thanx guys. Idk what it is. I changed everything yesterday, and today oil is dripping everywhere. I have a small rear main seal leak. But normally it only leaks like a drop of oil. Now i have a puddle :/ think a new filter will help? Whats best for our trucks?

I bought my Motorcraft at Wally World for like 3.5 bucks. The Fram filter was only like 2 cents less. I am getting away from Fram with all the heat it takes one these forums.

Re: Oil filter question
use a K&N high flow oil filter, The new ones without the welded nut into it. You can order them from autozone. The one for my 2010 4 cyl ranger was like 5.75 from autozone.

Re: Oil filter question
If you stll have the old filter, check and make sure the rubber seal is still there--sometimes they stick to the engine where the oil filter screws in and will cause leaking.
