Default Keyless entry for 99 Ranger

I have a 99 ranger with power locks but was wondering if it is posible to add the numbered keyless entry system so you can open it without the fob or a key?

I was thinking more in terms of a unit from a salvage yard that would interface with my ranger.

Ford at one point sold a number pad that stuck to the truck where ever you wanted and worked like the key fob system.

If you are talking the ford wired key pad setup it can be done but you will need to do a lot of leg work.

I was thinking about the unit that has the wires or (OEM) from Ford. From what I've been able to tell most of the unit's that stick to the door are for newer years of Ford (03-11). I'll have to check with the local Ford dealership and see what they say. Thanks for the link as I could always go that route if I have to.

The ford dealer will be little to no help as it was never an option on a ranger.

Unless they have the stick on wireless pad.

I talked to a Ford Dealer today and he claimed that there is a stick on pad that you can program and as far as he knows he has seen it used back to the 97's. I have a feeling it is probaly a after market unit but think I might try it as it's right around $80 and he says if it doesn't work I can send it back. Will let you know how or if it works when I put it on.

Well I got the keypad today and put it on my 99 Ranger and it work's like a top no problems whatsoever. It is a genunie Ford part No. 7L2Z-14A626-BA. You can use the pre programed entry code that is already in it or you can put your own code in (which I did), comes with simple instructions on how to program and install it. I think the main thing is it will work IF you already have power locks along with the key fob's.
