I normally get 400-450KM from F to E on my gas gauge. My last fill up seems to be getting significantly less mileage. I filled it up all the way, and it's at the 1/4 remaining mark, and I've only gone 230KM. This is much worse mileage than I'm used to. Also sometimes when I get back in my truck after parking for a day, the gauge seems a bit lower. I don't think I'm leaking any gas, I can't smell or see any, and I don't think anybody is siphoning it from me. Is this normal, or is something wrong with my engine/truck?

I have a 2005 2WD 3.0L V6 Ranger XLT, 4-door.

It sounds like your truck is getting the right mileage but you see it's not. The float inside the gas tank sounds like it is giving false readings. Or the gas gauge is screwed up.

Work out your mileage on the next couple of tanks by kilometers/L. Not sure what the gas prices are in Ontario, but I can tell you $1.23/L in Moncton we've been seeing gas theft on the rise for the past year or so.

As mentioned, the gauge may not be accurate for mileage calcs. Next time you fill it up, use the amount filled and the distance since last fill up.
