Default Autostart and Alarm combos

Looking into getting a remote start/alarm combo kit for my 99 Ranger.
Have some issues tho.

1. My truck has PATS key security.
So I will need a bypass module to put my spare key into so the auto start will work, correct??

2. My truck doesn't have power windows or locks. So the lock/unlock features won't be used. Is this a problem?

3. Are there any other rangers (98-00?) with this setup?
What brand system are u using?

I have found numerous systems ranging from $130-$400.

Any help and info would be great.

I have a compustar system in my 98

Cost about $50 on ebay.

It isn't a problem that you don't have power locks, it just means you won't have remote locks.

You'll have to bypass the pats system one way or another, I suggest a coffin box.

All I can say is don't go cheap on this. Cheap aftermarket alarms/remote starts just cause problems down the road. I've spent many days at work removing cheap alarms/remote starts due to interference with normal vehicle functions. Could be faulty wiring, could be poor craftsmanship I'm not 100% sure but I wouldn't chance it. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to do. If that's the case just disregard

If you get one, make sure the installer doesn't do a hack and slash job. More people have problems because they went to Best Buy or Walmart to get a security system or remote starter installed.

My system is remote start/locks only, not an alarm.

The set up isn't too difficult, I installed it myself in my truck. There was a really good website I found that listed what colour each wire you had to tap was, where it was found, and its purpose.

Here's a few I found online.

I mean really there are alot of them out there! Tons more. Priced from $100-$400.

My price range is no more than $250-$300. For the product, cause I know it's going to cost about another $150-200 to have it professionally installed.

Ok it's a car starter only you want. All systems have the ability to lock ad unlock its called keyless and has to be hooked up with a relay to work. All you want is the starter portion of the brain to work so don't worry about keyless it's not for you. I sold these units for years at a electronics store. I would highly recommend spending the money for a quality system. Compustar are great units with great range. Anything dei like python viper which ever are great as well. Just ensure you get someone who is qualified to install it. Remember you get what you pay for and you can spend as much as you want to. You can add attachments to these units if you want. Piece for anything trigger heated seats sunroofs modules that will allow you to start your vehicle from anywhere in the world with your smart phone.

I personally have the Compustar 2w8000fmaspro and it is awesome. Have had it for 3 years and never had an issue. If you have any questions pm Me and I can answer or questions about any other system

----------

The nice thing is you can always add actuators to your doors later to give yourself power locks cheap to do to and not that hard

K on the Compustar page look for the 2way alarm starter combo. I may have the part number wrong sorry my bad. Actuator you can get from must installation shops. I know we sold them for 60 bucks a door installed and hooked up to a system which for you would be your starter alarm since it is capable of doing keyless

Okay, this is an old thread but its about the only one relevant to what I'm looking for. At work I found a avid remote start system that my company originally paid 100 bucks for but since it was in a stock room filled with a lot of stuff we haven't stocked or used in years, I can pick it up for ten. Anyways what I'm looking for is a suggested pats bypass module. Cheapest to most expensive. Trying to gauge whether it would be worth it or not to plunk money into. The old lady likes the idea of a remote start so you can see where this came up. Every idiot in town I've talked to doesn't have a clue what I'm looking for so.
