Default Opinions?

I bought a 1992 Ford Ranger in March for $400.

I put a complete exhaust system on, catalytic converter, muffler, tailpipe .. for $325.

I've also recently put 4 brand new tires on it.

It is running fine. The odometer reads 49 thousand miles, but I have no idea how much it truly has or if it is even the original engine. All I know is it is currently running fine.

But I've been taking it to work, driving a little over 400 miles a week.

Am I making a mistake driving a 20 year old truck this much every week? Unfortunately right now it is all I have and is my first vehicle, I'm hoping it can last awhile.

If it's getting you there, drive it. I've had classic cars that I drove all over Texas with minimal work. You're good to go.

I drive a $800 1988 Ranger with a bazillion miles. When stuff breaks, I fix it. Much cheaper than a loan payment and full coverage insurance.

As long as you take care of it and don't ignore the signs if gives you when it needs maintenance! Other than that, drive it till' the wheels fall off!
