So I am planning on taking my lifted, SAS'd ranger down to TX. I have to pick up my 94 XJ in Houston and than take them both back up to South Dakota. Round trip is around 2800 miles. Will be getting towed around 1400 miles.

2005 Ranger: 5.38's, 38's, D60's with the big 1 ton brakes and a matching E350 master cylinder, stock 8K hitch.

1994 XJ: 4.88's, 285/75R16's (load range D), D30/8.8", stock brakes, uhual 6K hitch.

Who should tow who? Either way I am pulling the rear driveshaft and towing on a tow dolly with surge brakes to keep the weight down.

Neither would be my first choice as a tow vehicle. Trying to tow that much weight that far with a lifted vehicle wouldn't be idea of fun to say the least. Can you borrow a friend's F150?

the ranger would be better.. an xj is gonna have a hard time pulling the rangers weight, and the 38s down there.. i vote for the ranger.
