abs light...wait i dont have abs!!
94 b3000 4x4 5spd manual t-case all irrelevant because this truck does not have ABS. Yet on my way to work this morning I had to brake hard for some ******* in front of me and my ABS light came on and won't go away. What's my truck trying to tell me folks I'm stumped

Re: abs light...wait i dont have abs!!
You're right I don't have a "brake" light. Thanks for the replies. Gonna top her off and see what happens. Level was a tiny bit low so I'm not sure at this point

Re: abs light...wait i dont have abs!!
My 93 ranger that had no ABS also had the ABS light on the entire time I owned it. Never figured out why.

Uh. My '91 had RABS. Why would your 93 and 94 not have it?

ALL U.S./Canadian Rangers have had some form of ABS as standard equipment since 1989.
1994+ Mazda B-series trucks based on the U.S/Canadian Ranger shared the same ABS systems available on the Ranger in each model year.
Ranger ABS systems by year:
1989~1994:
RABS (1-channel, 2-wheel, rear-only ABS) was standard factory equipment on all U.S. production Rangers.
1995~2000:
RABS continued to be standard.
4WABS (3-channel, 4-wheel ABS) became available as an option depending on other equipment.
2001~2009:
4WABS (3-channel, 4-wheel ABS) + EBFD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) became standard factory equipment on all Rangers. RABS was discontinued and no longer available.
2010~2011:
4WABS (4-channel, 4-wheel ABS) + EBFD
The ABS also provides inputs to the traction control, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and RSC (Roll Stability Control) systems.

I was confused too. When I ran new brake lines they ran straight from the MC to the wheels. There was no ABS module anywhere to be found.

Great writeup, this should be made a Sticky! For the 1995-2000 if it had 4WD or the 4L V6 it had 4WABS. I recently saw a 1995 Ranger XL at a JY that had the 2.3L & 4WD and I can vouch, that it DID in fact have 4WABS. Side note: It also had the Gauge Cluster with a tachometer, so I guess the Tach was standard w/ 4WD.
1995-2000
2.3L/2.5L I4
2WD: RABS
4WD: 4WABS (1995-1997)
3.0L V6
2WD: RABS
4WD: 4WABS
4.0L V6
2WD: 4WABS
4WD: 4WABS

Soooooo. For those of you who thought the ABS light on your dash stood for Amazing Badass Speed, you might want to fix your brakes....

Re: abs light...wait i dont have abs!!
Well fireranger where's the ABS pump at if not within a foot or so of the master cylinder. Looked under hood and along the frame rails no pump. So its beyond me why yours would have ABS and mine wouldn't. I've never hit the brakes hard enough to lock em up/engage ABS. Just late braking for a turn due to the thickest fog I've endured and badda Bing ABS light comes on. Vehicle did come from Texas so who the hell knows. By the way the lights off now but I'd still like to get to the bottom of this. Master cylinder has two lines coming off and going straight to hiding in the frame rails. They look newer than 94 ill say that

Re: abs light...wait i dont have abs!!
I haven't owned the truck in 10 years, so I don't remember. The RABS system is not very extravagant so it isn't a big obviously part.

The pump motor or whatever it's called is located along the frame rail approximately below the door in the drivers side. I started a thread recently asking the same thing, lol.
