I have a 96 with a 2.3. It runs great except when I turn on the defrost/ac. It then idles around 2k and sometimes won't idle down. Just seems to do it sometimes but its quite aggravating. The iac seems to be fine, it idles down when unplugged like book says it should. Any ideas or anyone had similar problems? Thanks!!

I dunno about if the 2K rpm as being correct (soundz high),..but YES,the motor will idle higher once a Load has been induced. ie: air conditioning activated,defrost.

definately 2500 rpms otherwise it wouldn't be a problem, so how does a guy fix it

Yes I know it should idle a little faster but as mentioned not nearly this high. Weird thing about mine is it just does it sometimes. Can turn defrost/ac off and it immediately idles down to normal.
