HELP *** 2002 Ford Ranger Edge - Bogging ***
I am in need of some auto help. I have a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge Edition, Automatic, V6 Engine...
It was bogging down and nearly dying right at 2000 RPMS, and I recently changed the fuel filter, air filter, and oil filter, suspecting it was the fuel filter.
After making those changes, I ran it all over town, got it right in front of the mechanic, and had no problems (other than some minor jots between 1st and 2nd gear) so i figured the Premium gas and fuel injector cleaner was filtering through.
This morning, I let it warm up and it sounded fine. After pulling it out of my driveway, again it got to right around 20mph / 2000 RPMS, and it bogged badly, and then died.
I got it running again, and it continued to be an issue (dying 2 more times, and putting along around 2000 RPMs struggling to run)
Sometimes I can get it past 2000 RPMS (as it attempts to kick the pedal back at me) and it seems to do fine, but upon stopping or slowing down, the issue continues.
Any suggestions? My next guess was that the alternator might be going bad, but I am not as car savvy as I would like to be.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration in helping me through my problem!
Jordan

hey man, you will get help but you may need to wait until people are awake hang in there.
----------
btw it almost seems to me (who is NOT a mechanic or right probably not) thta it could be the fuel pump, simply not getting enough fuel

Yea you're right, thanks! I am just very concerned and drove the vehicle to work, where I currently sit, and was hoping to be able to "putt" to the mechanic or home with a likely solution.
----------
And thanks for your suggestion by the way! I just noticed it actually.

well in all seriousness i think you should wait before you go to a mechanic, FRF has saved me literally hundreds of dollars by taking me thru a bunch of possible issues and finally solving it! without going to a dealer, sometimes it takes awhile but none of these guys are like professional ford mechanics with a psychic ability to see our trucks haha

Okay thanks for your support Hazardous, that would be amazing if others were aware of my particular problem, and I will hang tight with my fingers crossed.
This was a long shot in all honesty (as you can see by my join date and history) and I did not know such forums existed!
I was frantically looking for help this morning and stumbled upon the site.

Re: HELP *** 2002 Ford Ranger Edge - Bogging ***
Update: I got it hooked up to a computer, and it mentioned the following problem:
Cam Shaft Position Censor
I obtained this part, took the old one off, put the new one on, and no more problem!
I hope this helps other people in one way or another!

Re: HELP *** 2002 Ford Ranger Edge - Bogging ***
Nope, actually I am lucky enough to know two friends who are mechanics with a computer, and they hooked it up and got the part in a matter of minutes.
I test drove it, pushing it hard around 2000 RPMS, and had no problems at all!
So for future reference, if someone is having this sort of problem, might I suggest checking both the Fuel Filter and the Camshaft Position Censor
