Default 1995 Ford Ranger Fuel Filter Replacement tips?

Hello -

I've used this forum in the past, but never posted. Thanks for any help you may have to help me on my latest repair.

I'm looking for a how-to video or instructions regarding how to replace the fuel filter on a 1995 Ranger 3.0. Nothing I could find here or on Youtube seems to point me in the right direction. Perhaps the info is here, but I couldn't find anything.

A friend told me that I should de-pressurize the fuel lines first and I'm looking for info on how to do that, too.

Thanks -

It's easy. Just pop of the retaining clips. And pull the lines off. Have a pan underneath to catch the little bit of fuel

To depressurize the lines some pull the power on the fuel pump while the truck is on it will use up more but not all. You will still eat gas. Also if it's a quick disconnect... It can become a real pain in the ass. I am still trying to get one of mine off.

Thanks, everyone -

To depressurize the lines, I ended up pulling the fuel pump relay then turned it over a few times to run the line as dry as possible.

The hose connections (95 Ranger) require a special tool to disconnect the engine side and a retaining clip to disconnect the tank side. In the end, the job was surprisingly quick and easy.

I just did my '89 last night. Pulled the plug from the fuel inertial shutoff switch and cranked it a few times to depressurize. Bought the special tool, only to realize that '89s don't need that tool you just pull some little plastic clips. Dogh!
