Post Squealing/Chirping

I have a '94 ranger, 3.0 V6 and there is a squeaking/chirping coming from the engine. I've checked the tensioner pulley, that's OK. I replaced the idler and it still squeals. I was going to try a new belt, but it doesn't look that bad. There's not a whole lot of wear on it and there's no cracks or splits that I can see. It's not a very serious problem, but it's annoying, so I want it fixed. Thanks for the help.

How did you check the tensioner?
I would remove and visually inspect the tensioner to see if the pin on the back is still there.

A freind tried several things on his 2002 Edge 3.0 before trying the tensioner and found the broken pin after removal of the old one. With the pin missing was letting the tensioner sping relax thus causing belt slippage.

Of course other things can cause a squeal but I would start there.

5k miles ago my tensioner pulley was screaming. I replaced the tensioner pulley, the idler pulley, and the belt with Gates parts. This week the temps dropped into the 30's and the noise came back.

This time I replaced the complete tensioner, idle and belt (again) with Ford parts. All is well again.

I've been getting alot of trash aftermarket parts lately and having to go to the ford dealer to replace them a second time.

Turns out all I had to do was get a new belt. There is still a squealing coming from the engine, but it's a different one this time. It only squeaks when it's in neutral and the clutch isn't pressed in.
