Re: check engine light flashes battery guage goes low truck starts to loose power
You forgot to mention its been overheating and boiling over?? That is a whole other problem.
Intake air temperature sensor (ACT.. Air charge temperature) and MAF would cause rich conditions. The ECT isn't going to do this, but it sounds like you have other cooling related problems too.

Have you done a compression and leak down test yet?

No, it's a possible cause. It doesn't make sense that this only happens under 2000rpm. A false reading from one of the sensors would cause a rich condition at all times. So would a faulty injector. So like we've been telling you for a week now, go get the code read.

The first three would tell me the MAF is probably shot. You could try cleaning it with MAF cleaner before replacement.
The last two are incorrect. Those codes are for intake air heater and power steering pressure sensor. Neither of which we are equipped with.

Re: check engine light flashes battery guage goes low truck starts to loose power
Yes. That's why I suggested it yesterday. It tells the computer how much air is entering the intake and that is how it knows how much fuel to inject to maintain the proper air/fuel mixture.

Re: check engine light flashes battery guage goes low truck starts to loose power
well i installed it drove it 10 miles and shut it off for 20 minutes and started it again with 2 seconds of hesitation i was told to expect that the first few times as computer adjusts drove it back 10 miles no problems idles at 650-700 rpms...i will keep you updated...at the auto part store the guy in front of me was getting the same thing for his 93 he said his was doing the same thing but worse...the coolant over flow has stoped i think i over filled it the radiator and reserve are full fingers are crossed...this must be a common problem in the rangers?

Re: check engine light flashes battery guage goes low truck starts to loose power
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. This is a MAX line on the tank for reason man. The tank should only be half full. If the level is rising on its own, something else is wrong. Probably the radiator cap.

No, that's what you're supposed to do. There is no such thing as "overfilling" the radiator. It is not possible.
So you're saying the radiator was low, you put more in, and then it spit it back out again through the tank?

Re: check engine light flashes battery guage goes low truck starts to loose power
Ok. Buy a new radiator cap first, its like $5.
Then properly top off the cooling system:
1) Top the radiator off with a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. Also fill the reserve tank up half way.
2) Leave the cap off. Start the engine and let it warm up. As it warms and the thermostat opens, the coolant will begin to flow through the radiator. As the level drops, keep topping it off until it stays full or may even begin to rise.
3) Put the cap back on. The system is now full
See what happens. If the temperature remains "normal" and there is no spewing of coolant, you're good. If you get overheating or spewing coolant again, come back with that information and we'll troubleshoot from there.
