Flashing check engine light, rough idle, now it won't start...
I was driving down the interstate, doing around 75 or 80, when my check engine light started flashing. The light was already on to begin with, so was the gas cap light. I might add that the reason the gas cap light and check engine light are on is because I have a slight gas leak at the top of the tank. Well once I made it to work with the light flashing, I turned it off and went to work for about 9 hours. When I got off to drive home, the truck was fine, as if it didn't happen, the lights were still on but not flashing. About a week later it started doing it again, but worse this time, I could barely go 25 mph, even in first gear at 6krpm. I quickly turned back and went home, parked it, and it won't start, at all. It was raining that day, a lot, don't know if that helps. I appreciate any input. I believe it might be related to the gas leak.

I did a while back, fuel too lean I believe. Unfortunately, I unplugged the battery in a desperate attempt to sort things out, so now I can't pull any codes.

I gave it one last year when I bought it, at about 40k, now I'm at almost 60k, it could probably use a new fuel filter, but I don't think that's the problem.

Lean conditions usually indicate a vacuum line is broken or unplugged, or the crankcase vent to the intake tube is unhooked. A big enough vacuum leak can cause your problems.

Royal Purple oil change every 6k miles, and its not goopy/thick dark and black, if I had a coolant leak, which I think you're implying. That being said, I did notice the coolant was just a hair low.

Might look into that, thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Flashing check engine light, rough idle, now it won't start...
For an update, I took the bed off and found the gas leak. Seems my fuel pump housing was dry rotted and cracked, allowing water to seep in. I replaced that and drained out the tank the best i could of water, I probably managed to get 5 or more gallons of water out. After all that it finally runs now, but now to acceptable standards. The check engine light came on again, and i have rough idle. It gave me OBD codes for fuel too lien, misfire in first 1000 rpms, and cylinder 2 misfire. I checked the plug, and it seemed good, but i replaced it anyways, still runs rough and if it goes over 3k rpms, the check engine light starts flashing. My dad thinks its just from leftover water being injected in, so i filled it with more gas, and put a bottle of injector cleaner in it that had "water remover" in it. Its gone through a quarter tank and still no progress, I'm not sure what else to do, I fear the worse for my truck.

Maybe the injector for that cylinder is bad? Or that spark plug wire?
