+1 that's the problem I had on my 95 B3000. Drive shaft was fine but u-joints had a bit of play and would shake insane amount at certain speeds. Replaced them (very cheap) and all was totally smooth again.

That rubber piece does appear to be brand new and I have no idea how it got on there.
My dad has had the truck for the last 4 years or so but the only thing he has done with it is replace the brakes and fix the fan switch.
I'll have to check the drive shaft angle again. I'm not sure if the picture just makes it look weird or if it actually is.

I did the same thing and had a mechanic check it too and all was tight... only when the truck was running on the hoist was any slop visible. I'd replace them as they are really cheap (cost me under $40 for both parts)
