Default A/C troubleshooting

Hey guys, I need some help troubleshooting help with my A/C system. I have a 2004 FX4 4.0 V6, and the A/C isn't working. I read some posts here, and I checked to see if the compressor is working. I turned the A/C switch on in the cab, and clutch didn't kick on. I don't know where any of the relays are located. I looked at my Haynes manual, and it didn't show anything except the WOT relay.

I've seen posts where people have said that they have used a paperclip to jumper, but I don't understand how that works. Does that mean that they used a paperclip at the relay to see if it's bad?

So, question #1, where are the relays I should check?
#2 How do I check them?

Thanks in advance.
-Kristan

It probably just needs a recharge.

Check your under hood fuse #25 for the AC selonoid, and the AC seloniod looks to be #56a. Make sure the fuse is good ( 10a ). Heaven knows that I am not the one that is the best to help you out with this, but it is a place to start. It took me 3 days ,on and off to get mine working again. If you dont know how to read a meter, or check electrical ckts. be careful so you dont fry anything.

I finally got a chance to look at this a few weeks ago, and I didn't have any luck. I checked fuses #25 and #56a under the hood, and didn't have any luck. The fuse box cover shows where each is located, but #25 was vacant. I pulled #56 but I have no idea how to check it. It's a square fuse with 4 flat prongs. There's no visible way to tell if it's good or not. I'm not very savvy with electrical stuff, so I have no idea what the voltages or resistances should be across any of the poles.

I want to verify that the fuses/switches are all good before I have to go buy a pressure gauge and check for leaks.

TIA
