How can I permanently disable Traction control?
I have a 2010 sport 4x4 and like all 2010's it has this "Advance-trac rollstablility" traction control. I don't like it. It might just be because I'm old school and I dont like things I dont understand haha, but i know where im going and how to drive and i'd appreciate it if the computer stayed out of it. It has sent me in directions I didn't want to go while wheeling...
I know if you press the disable button it doesnt fully de-activate and I know that you can press it for 5-10 seconds untill it blinks and then supposidly its fully off. But it turns on the next time you turn on your car. And it doesnt blink and fully deactivate ever single time.
Is there away to permaneny disable the TC?
And how will this effect my disc brakes?
also is there a better forum for this question?
thanks

Re: How can I permanently disable Traction control?
You cant, im pretty sure its integrated into the pcm and you change that out to an older one that doesnt have it, the truck may not run at all.

Re: How can I permanently disable Traction control?
not sure if the ranger is the same way but in my brothers 01 mustang we just took the fuse out for the tcs and that fixed it but it also got rid of the abs...

Re: How can I permanently disable Traction control?
Removing the fuse it the easiest way and yes it does also get rid of ABS. S13minus1 did it in his truck to run a slolam course

Re: How can I permanently disable Traction control?
They were showing on extreme 4x4 a jeep with it. There are individual gears at each wheel. There is no way to disable it unless you were to put in axles from a older ranger.
Then I still think it would screw with you because the computer would still be trying to calculate the tires movement.

Re: How can I permanently disable Traction control?
x2 on the fuse. The only way to see what will happen is to give it a shot.
I'm right there with you on the computer stuff. Accident avoidance is keeping your ears up. Traction Control is not driving like an idiot. ABS is when your brakes lock and you don't want them to, let off a little bit then push 'em back down.

Dont see why it would conflict as your messing with the suspension. The part that controls the traction control is on the axle end
If you remove the sensor I think your still gonna have trouble with the computer. With removing the fuse may be your best bet. However you may get dash lights coming on.
