Body spreading apart
This might sound weird but while changing my front brake pads I noticed after jacking up my truck that now my front fenders stick out farther from the truck. Drivers side is 1/2 inch out from the door and passenger side is 7/16 inch out from the door. I have noticed in the last few weeks a sound from outside the truck when driving that sounds like stress creeking and the paint wearing away on the inside of the doors from rubbing. Never in a collision. Should I be worried to drive it or am I over reacting that it might just split in half? All body mounts look ok.

my fender and doors aren't flush either. been that ways since i've had my truck. i just think its from the doors opening and closing, the metal gets warped after a while

It was totally flush until I jacked it up.

The jacking points are in the owners manual.

Re: Body spreading apart
Jacking points ? I jacked it and the body spread. I dont' care where you jack a car but the body should never spread.Am I right or wrong? My fenders are out by over 1/2 inch. Ya maybe I shouldn"t be pissed but look at the miles

Re: Body spreading apart
Sounds like your frame is flexing. Check it for weak spots, heavy rusted areas etc.

Re: Body spreading apart
You can look at the jacking points. I dont care, if you lift it by the door the body should not shift. I jacked it from the A frame. iIs that a good point to bend my truck? By the way after letting it down it is the same.

Re: Body spreading apart
prolly flexed your frame a little...you better be careful where you jack it because the body can and will shift/flex if you dont jack it right...ive jacked my truck up numerous times and havent had a problem

Re: Body spreading apart
The dealer informs me that something has let go under the truck and to take it to a body shop for a second opinion. Also not covered by any warranty. Showroom condition and not a spot of rust rust but its falling apart. The dealer also would not comment if it was safe to drive.

Re: Body spreading apart
I just don't see how I damaged both sides of the truck by using the factory jack and using the point shown in the manual. hmmmmm jack the passenger side and the drivers side fender pops out. Sounds and looks like a defect to me!!!
