Default Radiator won't drain.

I unscrewed the plug on the lower radiator area where you drain it and nothing came out. The coolant looks pretty brown so I wonder if there is some sludge or something, I dunno. Anyone deal with this before? I was thinking I might can use an air compressor to blow backwards into the drain hole. I'm trying to figure out a way to fix the drain without taking the radiator out. I have the factory clamps on the hoses so I'd have to go buy new clamps and all that jive. /being lazy.

Anyone ever had to unclog the radiator drain? This doesn't seem right.... It shouldn't be clogged with anything.

If you can't dislodge the rust/dirt from the Drain valve,
You can disconnect your bottom radiator hose, drain it run tap water from hose ,
And leave running for about 15 minutes until it runs clear.
Than see if the drain valve works again.
Be sure to re-connect hose and close off valve BEFORE adding ant-freeze coolant of 30-40% mixture (in summer)

i pulled the lower hose off. no need to replace the cllamp. if the hose looks bad replace that but i dont see why it'd usually need replacing.

keep the hose off and run some water through it till it comes out clear.

put a large container under there too so you dont kill the fishies. i like my sushi

You cannot do that, the plug screw extension runs through the radiator and across the hole. The screw itself won't pull completely out.

WTF?! Was this oil or coolant?!

This is why it wouldn't drain....

(No, I have no issues with the truck)

LOL, I am the wrong person to ask. I had a major sinus surgery and they cut out my smell receptacles. It dulls your taste buds a little, but the advantages to all the shit you CAN'T smell are great.

I don't have any issues with the truck so..... Just decided to flush it because it was dark. I was getting mostly red out of the drain so the sludge was like rust colored. I think it's just the original 14 year old coolant LOL.

Once I drive it for a few days I'll check it again, but 4 hours of flushing suggests it is cleaned out pretty good. My coolant and oil levels do not fluctuate so no reason to suggest they are feeding each other through a gasket failure. I think it was just really old....
