Default Wheels lock up

According to my idiot lights I have ABS as a light appears whenever I start the truck. However, the light goes out like normal and off I go. It's been raining a lot here lately, my tires aren't that great and I have had to make more than a few quick stops. To my surprise, my wheels lock up and I slide to a stop. At first I thought maybe I didn't slide far enough to for the ABS to engage (although I had thought it would be mostly instantaneous), so I went off to a wet, empty parking lot to test my brakes. Well the wheels lock up and stay locked until I finally stop. No pulsing of the brakes you normally feel in the pedal or anything like that. I have no lights on the dash at all. It would appear, at least as far as my dash indicators go, that everything is working just fine with my truck, but that isn't the case. Any ideas?

All the brakes or just the rear? Id yours is a 2wd it only has front wheel abs. or most older ones do, mine does the same thing when its wet out.

Well it's specifically the front that ARE locking up. I am not sure if the rear wheels are or not.

01B3000 has it backwards, most of the older trucks had rear abs only, a few came with 4 wheels ABS until the past couple of years, they all come with 4 wheel ABS now. Check for wiring & sensors on your front wheels, if they're there you have 4 wheel, if not you have rear ABS only.
