How to remove factory stickers???
Hey, i want to de-badge my truck as they like to call it.
here is a pic of what i want to remove...
I was told i can remove them using a razorblade, im just afraid of cutting into my paint. is that my only option?
Thanks in advance!

Re: How to remove factory stickers???
i have the same truck, or at least used to have the same stickers. They are nothing more then vinyl. DO NO USE A RAZOR BLADE. Just get them a little hot with a heat gun or peel them off in the sun with just your finger nail and they come right off. After, give the tailgate a good cleaning and wax to break down the dirt and wax edges that form around the sticker. And done. I work for a sign company so I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Body shops have a rotary tool for these and removing pinstripes, works like a giant pencil eraser.

Re: How to remove factory stickers???
I was thinking of removing the big MAZDA lettering on my tailgate (it's so 1980's looking) - does anyone know where I can get a chrome 'M' badge (like on the front) that will mount properly on the flat tailgate?

Re: How to remove factory stickers???
if you are using a heat source to remove them, I suggest a hair dryer. If you or a friend has one. (heat guns are good to) ... do not put it to close to your truck, or for any long length of time. heat up the decal a little, and start pealing from the edges. If there is left over residue take your fingure and a little bit of heat to it. rubbing it away.
I don't personally care to use heat at all. but its a cheap way to
I prefer a 3M erase wheel over heat any day but they can be quite expensive. at least once you have one they are the darnest thing to have around =D
oh and if there is any left over lines from the decals, I suggest polishing it out. but yeah good luck, and like others have said do not use a razor blade unless you plan on repainting your tail gate.

Re: How to remove factory stickers???
I used a razor blade on a hot day when my truck was parked in the sun to get the pinstripe off of it. Everyone says a razor blade will completely screw up your paint and stuff but i just went slow and was real careful and there are almost no nicks in it. Only a few which just scratched the clear coat. I wouldnt say the paint is the best on my truck anyway which is prolly why i didnt care much.

Re: How to remove factory stickers???
lol, if you really wanted to use a razor blade you should have bought the plastic blades.

Re: How to remove factory stickers???
I wrap cars at my job and use razor blades, and exacto knives all the time. It is all in how much pressure you apply. I have custom cut graphics onto cars and have left no lines, nicks or scratches. And yes, if using a heat gun DO NOT stay in one small area with the heat. Heat over the graphic for maybe 5 secs with a back and forth motion and then just pull off. Goo gone is good to use if you have any left over glue residue form the stickers.
