I've got a 1997 B2300 and I can safely say that anything apart from the Mazda specific parts, such as the headlight / taillight enclosures and front grille are interchangeable. The reason I know this is that everything else is stamped Ford. My engine has Ford stamps all over it, when I took out my bench seat to do the Expo bucket swap my vinyl flooring is Ford stamped, etc.

Unless you are trying to turn a B2300 into a Ranger everything should swap nicely. The one thing I did notice is the front quarter panels might be off because on the Ranger the grille/headlights aren't full length while on the B Series they are. Also the valences are different, but like I said, mechanically everything's the same.

-- Brian

P.S. I'm speaking of the 1993-1997 Ranger / B series, as I know the body panels changed in 1998 to differentiate the B Series.

Basicly I think it's really the same truck with just a few minor changes. Another truck with a different outer skin really. This is just another example of badging in my book. It'd be kool if they offered the Mazdaspeed engines, but with the torque and power of a ford engine.

Most likely yours is the equivalent to the Ranger XL 4x4. I'm not too familiar on the Mazda trim designations, aside from the Dual Sport.

It is. Basicly Ford Rangers/Mazda B series trucks have just about the same levels of options really. The only difference is the names used between them. For example: An XL Ranger won't have what an XLT ranger has in terms of options. Now the B series 2500 truck won't have what a 3000 series truck has in terms of options, plus the engine size will be different too. Those are pretty much just an example that I used.

its weird, in Canada you can get a 4L 2wd ranger, but as soon as you click the B4000 option on a mazda, 4x4 is a given, no 2wd option with the 4L on B series apparently

Yeah Andy, it's a little weird at times. You go to pick one option and as soon as you do, the other options seem to get changed no sooner than you pick them. That's what I hate about the "build your own" section on these websites today. Don't you just hate that man? I can't stand it myself.

I miss the seventies, where there wasnt diff packages:
leather package
technologie package
sport package
touring package, etc.

What if all I wanted was a sunroof, but I have to friggin opt for a damn techno pakcage for $4500 that comes with all this useless shit like nav, 30 gb sound system, power adjusted pedal, back up camera and giant middle finger that flashes in your face everytime your damn kids watch a movie on a 45 min trip to the city. Give me the sunroof for $500 and you got a deal.

I agree man. Back then it was simple picking an option. Let's say you liked a color of a 69 Charger but you were buying a Roadrunner instead. In today's times you'd have to switch cars and certain models to get that color along with every option known to man. Back then they just ordered the car or repainted it with the color that you liked and that was it. It was simple back then.

Just like how now and days no one offers a 1/2 ton with full 4 door and an 8 foot bed.

No joke man. I remember the old "crew cabs" with the 8 foot long bed that was no bigger than a 1/2 ton back in the early and mid 90's. Now if you get a 4 door, you lose well over 1/2 of the bed basicly. My late grandfather use to have a 1990 standard cab F150 XLT with a longbed and dual gas tanks. Mom sold it after he passed away in 2003. I tried my best to get her to let me have that 5.0 out of it, but she wouldn't budge.

From what I understand, the number after the 'B' is the engine size. For instance the B3000 has the 3.0, the B2500 has the 2.5, the B4000 has the 4.0, and so on. The option level is indicated by the letters SE like the Ranger's XL or XLT. And as mentioned the DualSport is the same as the Edge. I suppose you could opt for 4x4 in any model but not positive on that. I did find this interesting link:

I think your right. On the door sticker it says "Manufactured by Ford for Mazda".

Well, found a sliding rear window from a 99 Ranger and it bolted right into the Mazzie no problem. I was wondering what body panels are different... apparently everything on the cab is the same.

Wow, good question. Are you looking to replace your cab? Bed too?

From what I can tell the doors have different lines than some Rangers but then I've seen some Rangers they're the same... looking at the way the doors match up with the cab and front fender. Anybody?
