A/C and Ventilation Question
So here's the deal. I bought my first Ranger last week knowing full well that there were some potential problems with the ventilation system. After some further investigation, I've got a few specific questions I am hoping some of you experts can help me answer and fix. Here are the problems and my observations:
Problem 1: Truck only blows hot air through the vents even when set on cold.
Observations and Questions: Before buying, I read about the common problem that the Rangers tend to suffer from regarding the blend door actuator. I was hoping this was the issue and I'd just replace the actuator. As it turns out, the actuator works fine and I can manually switch the blend door from hot to cold. Here's my question. With the actuator seemingly working fine, why does it not move the blend door? Is it possible for the actuator drive to not seat properly? This one has me stumped...
Problem 2: The truck was only driven in the winter so the A/C was never used (at least within the last two years). When I switch on the A/C the compressor does try to kick on however it only stays on for about 2 seconds, kicks off and repeats.
Observations and Questions: I've heard this could be solved by recharging the system. Could this potentially fix the problem? Am I looking at a larger issue with the compressor itself? Maybe the clutch?
Appreciate your help with these... Let me know if anyone has questions or needs more information.
