Default EGR question

I have 2000 XLT with 106000 Miles and have a CEL light on Code is for insufficient flow code 401. Shoul I go ahead and change the EGR or is there something else that is causing the light??


The engine is a 3.0 L ,forgot to add this item

Chances are that the EGR valve itself is not the cause. I'm not a fan of randomly replacing parts but the DPFE sensor is, by far, the leading cause of EGR flow codes. You'll also want to check the 2 hoses that lead from the steel EGR tube to the DPFE - they sometimes crack or melt.
