Default Disk Brakes

97 Ranger, small 4 cyl. I need to re do my front disk brakes. I would like to get better than OME. What can I get that will work say in Slotted or drilled and slotted roaters. I will need new callipers I'm sure and what is the best pad to get. I have a NAPA store in town or should I get them on-line? Any help you can provide will be great.

dont waste your money on drilled and slotted rotors, they will gain you nothing on a stock ranger. you will be better off getting a good OEM style rotor and spending a little extra on a good set of pads. the pads are what really matter when it comes to brakes.

Thank you for that information. I will go with stock rotor and the best pad's I can find. I knew this was the place to ask.

Or you can buy hardened rotors (Napa) since you're replacing them and hardened aren't that much more expensive. Napa sells Raybestos brake lining I believe so you can't really go wrong there. Just use brake quiet on the back of the pads and at the clips so that you don't get squeal whatever kind you use.

What's wrong with your calipers that a little grease on the slide bolts can't fix?

i bought dippled and slotted rotors around the first of the year, had them on the truck for a few months now. absolutely love them! can't wait to buy another set for the explorer axle.
