Default Truck Illiterate

So the reason I really joined this forum was because I'm honestly very truck illiterate. I originally bought my truck (a 1999 Ford Ranger 4x4 Ranger XLT Supercab) just to have my own vehicle. But I have many friends who have been trying to talk me into modding my truck so I finally caved and am ready to start making it my own personal and unique truck. I know only two things for sure: I would like a 3" body lift and 32 or 33" inch tires (preferably BFG All-Terrains). How would I go about doing this? I've read a lot about T-bars and re-gearing but I really don't know what they mean. I have asked my car modding friends and other truck guys but none of them have Ford Rangers. That's where y'all come in. You live, breathe, and love your Rangers. I would seriously appreciate any help and advice you can give me. Thanks. Btw everything on my Ranger is completely stock.

basically if your not good with mechanical stuff your gonna need help with the lift, the gearing is best left to a shop, but depending on your current gear ration you might be fine to run 33s with them. turning the t-bars is an easy task, look it up in the how to.

I'm pretty good with mechanical stuff. I've fixed a few things on my truck with a little help from a mechanic. I appreciate the help. If you have any other pieces of advice I'd really appreciate it.

I just checked the How-To section for T-bars and it said any 98'+ 4x4's don't have them so I guess I don't have to worry about that.

its basicvally the style of spring, its that bar that goes from under the cab to under the front end of the truck, it basically is a heavy solid bar that when your suspension moves it twists, so it keeps the front end at a certain spot. you can change that neutral point by simply lifting the front wheels off the ground and adjusting a bolt.

yeah cranking the torsion bars only raises the front end. its an easy way to level out the front to the back since your truck has factory rake (rake is how your rear sits higher than the back) if you want the whole truck higher get an add a leaf or longer shackles for the back.

the add a leaf is a little bit involved, it requires unbolting your axle and pulling your spring pack apart, the shackle is mostly basic, you get the beltec shackles and unbolt the current shackle and replace with the beltech.

really depends on what you want to do, if you just want a bigger tire then the body lift or t-bar and shackle lift is fine, if you want to run a 33 inch tire you will need both. it depends on your budget and what your looking to do with it.
