Default Creaking at low speeds, brakes on, turning wheel...

My truck's under warranty, but I always try to avoid taking my vehicles to dealerships unless absolutely necessary (too many bad experiences)....

Could this be 'normal' brake creaking - like when you are at a stop and ease off the brakes slowly and the truck starts to move?

It doesn't make the noise unless the brakes are applied, and only when turning the steering somewhat sharply. Does it mostly when turning right (right turns are usually sharper), and occasionally when turning left into parking, etc.

Thanks for any thoughts...

You could try removing the pads and putting some of that "brake quiet" stuff on the backs.

Hmmm.... I thought that stuff was more for squealing. Rather than risk them denying any warranty work because of goo I put on the back of the pads, I'd probably just take it in to be looked at. I was hoping this was 'normal', so I could just relax and not worry about it.

Thanks for the idea, anyway.

I hope that's not what's wrong... it only has 2600Km on it so far. Maybe I'll just leave it for a while and see if it changes/goes away. Lots of time left on the warranty anyway...

Are you crazy?! You have a warranty for a reason... that means FREE REPAIRS!!! Why not use it?!

I had squeaky brake pads stock on my Ranger. Started day one and it never stopped until I replaced the pads... warranty wouldn't touch it but that doesn't mean that's the same for you. Right now I have squeaking when at low speeds without brakes applied and I'm getting a new universal UNDER WARRANTY.

Don't be crazy... take that truck the Ford ASAP... it won't cost you a penny and you'll either know the problem or the truck will be fixed... win win

Ha ha, no I'm not crazy! Like I said, I've had a LOT of bad experiences with dealerships - Pontiac, Suzuki, Toyota, Ford...

new turbo with only 3 of 4 bolts installed
poor idle due to vacuum hoses not reconnected
door speakers installed incorrectly and ripped tint off
big scratch in paint
shift knob suddenly crooked and loose
...and the list goes on.

So, if this noise I'm hearing is typical for these trucks, then I won't risk leaving it with the dealership for no reason. If it is a problem, then absolutely, it will be fixed under warranty, and I will have to argue and fight to get any collateral damage by the dealership fixed after the fact.

Just got back from vacation, and my rental car made a similar noise twice. I'm beginning to suspect that when braking at low speeds and then suddenly turning the steering wheel sharply, the ABS/traction/stability control system kicks in and does it's thing on the inside wheel that's turning slowest.
