Exclamation Parking brake issue

I'm not sure if I put this in the right section but here goes:

I have a manual transmission, so I do 2 things when I get out of the truck, use the parking brake and leave it in 1st just to make sure. Today when I got in my truck to go to work. I released the parking brake and let my truck roll back in neutral. But instead of my truck rolling like it should have it stayed in place and didn't move. It took a little gas in reverse to get them to "unlock". This has happened a few times, I'm just trying to see if it's happened to anyone else. Or maybe someone knows what's causing this to happen. It doesn't do it everytime. Just a few times here and there.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I was always told you should either always use it or never use it. something having to do with the way it wears or something. But I always use it and always leave it in first. My drive way is slanted and people park behind my truck. don't want any un-necissary accidents lol. What kind of lube do you reccomend?

I'd shoot the drum brake with brake parts cleaner and the find the lever that the PBC is connected to and liquid wrench it.
Maybe even remove it clean it and grease it.
