Nice Walk-Thru

I have a 93 Ranger and carpet on the drivers side keeps getting wet every-time it rains. So opened the Cowl panel looking exactly like in your pics and and cleaned out all the leaves and crap.

Hopefully that will solve the problem

Thanks

Anyone know if all drainage is to the driver side. No easy access is apparent to clean the passenger side cowl. Do you need to pull the blower?????
Cl92ranger, is right. Just pull the clutch reservoir, then pull the 3 screw plate (on drivers side firewall) and you will be looking in the cowl.
Mine was very clean and like cl92ranger, I could not see where you can look into the pass. side of the cowl.

Although, I found some triangular, plastic, insulation-filled pads in the space that the water is supposed to drain out of the cowl. They were soaked. WHAT ARE THESE THINGS AND WHY ARE THEY THERE?? Anyone else ever seen these things or wonder what they are?

(I assume you mean, does anyone know how to get IN the pass. side cowl? Is there even an access port to get in the cowl?) I dont know if your truck is an XLT or STX but I have both and they are both 92's, but I cant see any access port to get to the passenger side of the cowl to look in besides actually looking through those little holes near the window. Still though, I see no way of getting in the pass side of the cowl to clean it out if it were dirty, unlike the driver side whereas you just do the steps described above to remove the access plate.

----------

So to answer your question, no, theres no way to get in the passenger side of the cowl.

This is a stupid question, but you need not remove the fender, right? Just for illustration?

Holy crap am I glad I cam across this gem of a write-up. Driver side floorboard was damp and looked like it had been for a longggg time. (Ive only owned it for 2 months) The cowl was ok, but the little drain pan at the bottom had clogged with a TON of mud. Hopefully now my floorboard stays dry!

at the bottom of the fender at the bottom of the wheel well, you will see a little box with a push button clip... you would never notice it unless you looked for it, but pull that down and you will prob find a box filled with mud/crap. Clean it out and make sure the little hole in the bottom is clear.

I've been having problems for a long time with my passenger carpet getting wet in my truck. After it rains the passenger only is soaked. And I seen this and took the panel off under the hood. It's clean. The drains well they are full of sand. I kept pouring water through the cowl and stuck a screw driver in the hole and moved it around and a lot of the sand came out. But only water came out on the driver side. The passenger side drain was dry. Is it supposed to drain out both sides? Or just the driver. I'm confused.

Another potential trouble spot for you is the case that holds your heater core and AC evaporator. There is a drain in the bottom of that case to let condensation run out. If you don't smell antifreeze, I would look there next.

It's clean. I just replaced the evaperator 10 days ago and it all got cleaned. My ac hasn't worked for probably a year and it still leaked no matter what.

Will this work on a 2011 XLT? Lately, every time it rains, the floorboard on the driver's side gets wet. The water is coming from under the dash and dripping on the floor. I know that it is not coming from the windshield, but cannot seem to figure out where it is coming from. Any help would be appreciated.
