Default the battery hold down bolt broke

When I removed the original battery I guess I put too much pressure on the battery hold down bolt and I'm wondering what my options are. I don't want to take off the battery plate as those bolts don't budge and I don't want to make things worse. Are there straps you can buy to clamp it in. Would a bungee cord work? Thanks for any advice!

Got drill bits to make holes for the hooks to catch into?

Or go completely diy and get a length of threaded rod cut it into 3 pieces, bend two eyelets into one length to form your own cross brace and make two hooked studs. just make the two factory ends from the rod be the top ends of the hooked studs.

the magic of duct tape haha. I will look into a universal hold down kit! I hope autozone has it. Thanks

@ mick- is that a universal kit? I will have to drill holes? I'm sure I can pick up a metal drill bit

you'd have to drill holes to hook even bungee cord into no? unless you've got clearance to wrap under the bottom of the tray. But then an old leather belt would be best.. you could get one with a bigass Texas buckle if you'll worry about appearances.

Funny, I did actually think of a belt. I do have some clearance under the plate. Tomorrow I think I'll try to remove that broken bolt. It looks like it simply is threaded into the tray. I'm not sure if there is a nut on the underside?

Thers no bolt on the underside, the hole is threaded.some penetrating oil and a set of vice-grips and back the broken part out. then a trip to the hardware store for a new bolt(take the top half to get the correct TPI)

I tried to back that bolt out to no avail (I'll deal with that later). I put the new battery in and it started right up. Now on to the next repair. Thanks for all the advice!

Yeah just anchor the battery or it'll get beat up and fail prematurely.
