Default Power but not turning over

99 B2500, 5 spd, 2.3l

I drove the truck to and from work, then went to pick up some dirt for a project. When I went to turn on the truck the dash lit up bright and was dinging loudly but wouldnt turn over or click, I know it isnt the battery since I just put a new one in a week ago.

So we put the truck in reverse and got it rolling and popped the clutch, it started right up, not sure if it is bad to do that in reverse or not. So I got the dirt and headed home, pulled the truck around to unload. For some foolish reason I decided to turn the truck off while unloading, now it wont start again.

My question is, could this be a solenoid problem in the fender that would cause the engine to not turn over or even engage the starter? Is there a way to test this solenoid at home? Or should I dig into the ignition system?

I had this issue once before, but I charged the battery and it started right up, that is why there is a new battery in it now. When I was trying to find the problem, I took the starter out and had it tested, and it tested good, so I doubt that is the problem, and there isnt a click at all.

it could be a bad cell in the battery. rare but it happens. or something worse. if u havent already i would check that first.

Also, check your starter relay (it'll be on the fenderwall for most models). If that tests okay, and you know your starter motor and solenoid are good, there's only one thing left, and that's the wiring itself (underhood). If you take it off and check the connections, and it is any other color but copper (including rust and other things), ten to one the wire is bad.

I mention this because I had the same problem.
