Default Braking Issue

so i was driving my truck around town this morning, and when i would come up to a stop light or stop sign, as i braked my tires would lock up. id be going less than 25, but i could hear my tires skid on the cement. a friend of mine said they might need to be bled, and pumping them might help. i havent changed the brakes soon, and it was raining today so the truck and ground were wet. my brake light isn't on, and i haven't check the fluid level yet. anyone have any suggestions?

Air and brake bleeding has nothing to do with it. That would cause the opposite problem. It is pretty normal for the back wheels to catch and drag when the brake drums have been sitting damp and the road is wet. Once you step on the brake a few times, it should clear up.

^ on top of that you can ride the brakes a little to clean the rust off them. if thats not your problem check your shoes and make sure there is enough lining left and the riviots arent rubbing on the drum or something

I have been thinking about this to....

As for the brakes i would had a similar problem when i got my ranger. My problem ended up being the rear drum shoes were falling apart lol.

the explorer axle swap is cool, but the emergency brake on them sucks! its little shoes inside the rotor and you almost have to pull the axle out to change them. its hard to explain, you might just have to pull a rotor off and look yourself.

just my opinion: i prefer the ranger drum brakes. thats just me

I'd say to do the mustang disc brake mod on here.

Plus side, you get +50 ft stopping power, and a lot easier maintainance. AND, it's bolt-on...just throwing that out there.
