Question Quits Running

My 93 Ranger runs great - except - over the last few weeks it has quit running as I drive down the road. I can pop the clutch or turn the key to restart and it runs fine for a period - sometimes 20 minutes - sometimes less and then quits. Seems like a full power loss (electrical). I have changed the plugs, wires, coils, battery terminals and fuel filter. Wondering if it may be the alternator or computer. Battery charges fine, but there is a lot of movement with the dash charging indicator, including movement just before shutting down. Can an alternator be bad sometimes?
