Ya you need to seafoam that before adding in any fuel additive.

Lucas is a great cleaner but there is a cleaner made by a company called "BG" and they make a product called "44K". I am a 6 year tech a local car dealership and we use it all the time and that one product that does make difference. I have seen this on ebay but this is not something you will find in your local parts place. Hope this helps

Sea foam is great stuff for scrubbing the intake and the fuel system. People have used in their old before an oil change too. If you go the whole shebang, it's 1/3 in the tank, through a vacuum hose, and the oil fill hole.

For your case, 1/3 of a can in the tank before you fill it and run the tank damn near dry. If there is still an issue, repeat.

I've used both sea foam and Techron with no problems. Sea foam for a complete cleaning, Techron for just a fuel system scrub.

Both Seafoam and Gumout work....I've used both myself. The kicker is to let the car idle as the cleaner works--that way, it can be heated up as it goes through. As the car gets cleaned, you'll notice a change in your exhaust fumes (color and/or smell) that should tell you that it's working.

Afterwards, believe it or not, try to get to a freeway that you can drive 60-80 mph on--that'll force all the loose carbon build up out of your system. If that's done right, you'll see a lot of grey smoke coming out of your truck...but don't worry, that's normal.

Don't mean to necropost, but wanted to add that I just tried the BG 44k, and within 5 miles I could tell an incredible difference! Have over 210k on my 3.0 Ranger. Just bought it from a friend, and wanted to see what this product will do. I'm hooked on BG now! check out www.bgfindashop.com for your local providers. And no, I do not work for them, just am impressed with at great product.
