Default Power Steering Fluid Leak

Aloha, I have a 2001 2.3 Ford Ranger and I just noticed power steering fluid leaking form what looks like to me the Power steering fluid pressure switch connector. I've checked all other hoses that lead from the PS reservoir and the green sensor has PS fluid all over it. I took off the sensor and the male and female parts of the sensor is drenched in fluid. I started my truck without the sensor and it built up a little fluid in the female part of the sensor which is attached to what i believe is the pressure hose. The fluid didn't drip but only accumulated a little inside. Does that female sensor come off for an easy fix? or do i have to purchase a new pressure hose? Mahalo. Nick

I'll try to post some pics

You'll need to get a new hose.

Talking Re: Power Steering Fluid Leak

aloha, i called Checkers and they sell just the part female connector part that is attached to the pressure hose...do u know how to remove just that connector? the hose may still be good, so i will try and figure out if i can get by with just changing just that connector. The male end with the 2 wires just needs to be cleaned so i purchased some electrical cleaner.

THANKS!

The nipple must be threaded on yours then. I don't think mine was but I had a leak due to rust at the lowwer connection on that hose. I can't remember if that part was hexed shaped like a nut or bolt head or not. If it is, you can use a wrench on it. If not a pair of pliers, preferably a set of locking pliers like vice grips should do the trick. Just be careful not the tweak the new one by clamping it too hard or you will deform the fitting and the sensor won't thread in.

its the sensor, i went to checkers and bought the sensor but it doesn't fit!!! the original part has a small 2mm lip on the threaded side and the new one i bought doesn't have that, they both have the same thread size but for some reason, the new one doesn't fit....!!!
