Default Sudden shaking then goes away

Hi, I have a 96 V6 3.0L ranger and on the way home today on the freeway which had an incline to it the truck started to shake and check engine light came on. I let off the gas and got off the freeway in about half mile. Put it in park and it was still shaking so I turned it off. My parking break was on during that drive I found, but no fluid leaks or low fluids. Was still about 10 miles from home so drove it home slow on the highway and 2 miles city with no problems whatsoever. What could it have been that it would fix itself? If any more details would be helpful let me know!

Could the tranny be going out? Or maybe need to change the tranny filter?

A side note. It has been somewhat of a hard shifter, when getting on the freeway it revs up and then clunks in. Mostly in 3rd and when O/D is off. Also changed spark plugs and plug wires back in August last year, fresh tranny oil and motor oil is freshly changed.

It could be a bad center bearing, mine did that before it went, as for the starting issue I have no idea, maybe a tranny flush?

So the code was P0303. Misfire on cylinder 3. Are the tranny's known to give out after 95k miles or so on the 96 3.0L rangers? Does anyone know of a place to buy a rebuild kit for the tranny? Was thinking of doing that over my spring break since I need to make several 300 mile trips over summer...

You are having an ignition problem or something other than the transmission then. A tranny won't cause a misfire issue.
