recommend Brands of Brakes and Rotors for 96 Ranger/Aerostar
I was wondering what are good Brands or products to get for Rotors, Brake pads, Brake shoes (drum), Front wheel bearings, Seals and grease? Is it a good idea to use Ceramic brake shoes or just stick with semi-metalic? Are there any I should avoid? My van may not be a Ranger but it's design is based off of it.
Thanks,

Re: recommend Brands of Brakes and Rotors for 96 Ranger/Aerostar
I just use stuff from autozone. Never had any problems with function/durability. Plus they have a "no questions" ask return policy, atleast around here they do. I bought some rotors from advance auto for my jeep xj, one was warped and they gave me a bunch of shit about it and would not refund/repair/replace.
In any event, you get what you pay for so just remember that. If you buy cheap, you will get cheap.
I just did all my u-joints, bought from A/Z. But got the 1 yr warranty cause they were lubable, lifetimes were not.... go figure

I like AutoZones pads, limited lifetime warranty. They just tell me to bring them back before they're at the metal, and they swap them out for new ones.

U can get nice ceramic brakes that I mentioned above with nice discount from www.rockauto.com for way less than autozone or advance. Try like 10-20 dollars cheaper!
Look in our product review section for a list of rock auto discount codes. Trust me I am about to install a new set of front and back brakes for mine this weekend

See we don't warranty ware and tear on pads, at Advance. We have a limited lifetime warranty. Which basicly means if the pad cracks or breaks we will swap them out one time. I personally like the thermoquiets, they prevent less brake dust on the wheel and are a more durable pad than the other brands. But honestly it's all about how you drive and how much you use your brakes. brembo is also a great brand.

Re: recommend Brands of Brakes and Rotors for 96 Ranger/Aerostar
No knocking anyone but AutoZone's Duralast line is one of the lowest rated shoe/brake pad brands on the market. We like to refer to them as squeakers at work. I'm going to say in an average week at work I see around eight cars come in with almost brand new pad that have plenty of meet start to chunk and make high pitch noise for no reason. Duralast is made by SnapOn but its more of a SnapOff brand lol
