Gas Nozzle shuts off
Recently I found that something is preventing the gas to flow into the tank of my 95 Ranger. It acts just as it would when nearing a full tank by shutting off. Any ideas?

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
If you go to the same gas station alot it could be their pumps, i know on my moms Edge and my friends ram, the gas station we go to pumps the fuel too fast, and the tube cant handle it, creating pressure, causing the pump to turn off.

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
pull back a bit on the nozzle in order to let some of the air escape while gas is going in. Back pressue is what causes the stopping of the pump. Dont pull it out to far or it might not stop and splash out.

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
Are you locking the nozzle to dispence with the little dohicky on the nozzle? If I do that on my truck, the nozzle shuts off. I think it has something to do with the filler neck...

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
hey! speaking of that little dohicky on the nozzle, some Ass Hat locked the dohicky on the nozzle, I pulled it out and turned on the pump then realized it was locked, I don't know if fuel would have started pouring out or not, thankfully it did not! I check for that every time now.

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
i dont think so because I think the nozzle has to be in the gas thing in the side of your tuck to work. Saftey chingidara

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
I had the same issue with my 01 ranger edge 4.0 4x4.I pulled the fill neck and vent tube out and hooked up a short extension hose on it so I could blow through it. I could hardly get any air through it at all,so I knew I had a vent problem.I also had a problem with the fuel pump losing pressure after it set for a while. Off comes the bed ,makes changing the pump a breeze and I also wanted to trace all the vent lines .All the vent lines and evap cans checked out ok. Disconnected the pump and took it out, tried to blow through the fitting the little vent tube connected to and still could not blow through it. Picked up the new pump same fitting flowed free.Put in the new pump and fixed both problems.

Re: Gas Nozzle shuts off
It is the tiny tube running beside the large tube.
You can see it in this photo. On the bottom.

That is exactly the hose I was referring to. But the hose was clear, the blockage was in the pump.
