Default Does Anybody Know This Sound?

I own a 05 Ranger 4.0L AWD five speed manual. It started making the same exact noise as the sound in this link for the 03 Ranger (See below). It only occurs when the truck is warmed up and happens at random. Its really loud and I don't know how to pin point it. I don't think its a bearing or a belt. Does anybody know what this is and how I can fix it? Please help thanks!

On this video's youtube page someone already suggested an exhaust related issue.
I agree with that since the duration of the noise lasts longer than the length of time it takes any mechanical part to stop moving when a engine is shut down, plus you said it happens when it's warm.
Although it does sound like your engine is having a poo.

almost sounds like a vacuum leak, seeing as it takes a second to die out... start pinching off vacuums one at a time, and see if the truck runs any different.

It sounds like it could ? be a vacuum leak, but more than likely it is going to be an exhaust leak venting back pressure.(stopped up exhaust, cat. etc...) It sounds like the exhaust is stopping up after it runs awhile & the cat. gets hot & packed up & therefore you'll have exhaust back pressure. If you have someone that will help you, then you can get them to turn off the ignition while you are under the truck & then you will be able to zero in on the area where the noise is coming from. From there you should be able to find the problem. Good luck & let us know what you find. Hope this helps. ALso, if you are experiencing a loss of power (you didn't say)it WILL be an exhaust issue.

Haha funny story... I just bought the truck from Freeway Ford dealership back in December. As soon as I test drove the truck I knew I wanted to buy it. Anyway, A week after buying the truck it started to make a noise similar to the one in the video. I was so frustrated that I brought it back to the dealership to have them take a look at it since it was still under warranty. What was only supposed to be a days work for diagnosing the sound and returning the truck to me turned into an entire week of giving me the run around. They kept saying that they heard the noise then they didn't hear the noise and so on and so on. Anyway, $130 bucks later for "preliminary diagnostics" (It would have been $160 if I hadn't argued with them for awhile) the noise started again the very night I got it back. I was so pissed that I jacked the truck up on my own in my garage and started looking over what could possibly making the sound. Finally, I figured it out. I figured out what no certified Ford technician at Freeway Ford could diagnose. It was the dust shield rubbing up on the back of the rotar near the front right tire! I could not believe it took me all of 15 minutes to figure out what the dealership could not in an entire week of holding on to the truck. Now that I have watch the youtube video over again the truck made the same noise when it was running but didn't squelch out when cut off like it did on the vid so I knew that it was not the same noise but I still was looking for some possible ideas of what it could be, so I appreciate the replies. (You are probably right it does sound like an exhaust issue on the vid). Anyway, the truck is running great now and I love driving it in this very snowy winter up here in MN. Thanks again!
