How can I tell which fuel tank my truck has?
I assume the vin would help, but in case until I get it.
It is a fully loaded, 02', SCab, XLT, Sside, Tow, Off Road 4x4.
Trying to map MPG figures, but not sure which it is.
Running from tip top, to stumble empty, most I can squuze is 16.2 Gal.
I was thinking there would be a reserve amount beyond E but something is not adding up with my figures and what seems to be commonplace for everyone to get 330MPT. I am getting 270, from 225, and not even with wishful thinking could I see getting 330MPT, driving conservatively that is.

I wouldn't say 330mpt is commonplace. I get that with ease, but that's because I'm me!
I have the largest tank which is 19.5 gallons. I have run the gas so low that the needle is way below the E and I still have 1-2 gallons left in the tank....

STL where did you get those numbers? Is that specifically for an '02? I took the numbers from my '04 manual, didn't think anything had changed.

That's interesting. I was wrong about having the largest available tank, but I did know for sure that the supercabs had the 19.5 gal. I think it's strange that the capacity for the other 2 tanks is just a touch different. I mean this is Ford we're talking about, they do things that make no sense, but did they switch to different tanks or is it just something else that changes the capacity a little?

same material as far as I know just not as big like u said I dont know why they changed it and it wasn't even that big of a change

Hmm, well this isn't helping me like I had hoped I guess I'll have to put a 5gal in the bed and ride till she gives out. Hope the girlfriend doesn't get jealous. Thank you guys very much for the quick help. Well atleast I know that my numbers are consistant with 16.2+/-gal. and not the 19.5 otherwise I would seriously have to look at this truck.
As I see it now I seem to be getting 16.8 MPG Avg. which is better than the original
14.5, but it's still not where I want to be. Hopefully when I get rid of these crap wranglers it'll help. TA

Do you spin on take off when it wet. do you tend to spin when wheel is turned sharp?
Also I know there are like 4 different wranglers, Load c,d,e, and another.

The capacity issue could possibly be related to the 4x? setups.

Wrangler RT/S. Not sure of the load rating.
No I really don't have any problems with mine. I take off slow, though. That's the key to my good gas mileage. They actually performed okay this past winter, and we got a LOT of snow. I don't really hate them, but I know there's better options out there.

Hmm, I am driving conservatively, not sure which model these are. I don't even want to see these in the winter. I thought maybe it was an alignment issue but it is straight. I picked up a set of Fstone wntr4ce that I'll run the in winter, and I am looking to go with Hkook ATM's in the spring. Put is this way my F150's have edge Perf. computers set to Performance ith stock tires and all the places that I am having issues slipping in the Ranger I have not had in the F150's. That is why I assume it is the tires.

Well if you're talking about driving in snow, the Rangers light weight is a real disadvantage.
