Default New and I don't have a clue .........

Hello folks , like the title says I'm new here . I need help !

1998 Ranger , 3.0 , manual trans

While in 2 nd gear and going over a speed bump ( slowly ) engine died , clutched it and hit the key .... nothing , would not turn over or make a sound . No problem ..... I'll push it and start ..... nothing . Check the battery connections .... no help . I have a guy tow me in nuetral backwards a 120 yards back to my house , push it into drive and hit the ignition ................. starts right up . Kill it and it has started 7 or 8 times .

What happened and is it gonna do it again ?

Thanks !!!
