Default silly question: confused about the oil drain plug...

So I went to change my oil tonight and on my tempo and other cars I've seen they have a horizontal bolt to undo to drain the oil...My ranger doesn't have that as far as I can tell...It the drain plug that main vertical bolt? seems like I'll get oil everywhere! lol...

I'll wait on a clarification here and do it tomorrow.

thanks folks.

Ur saying the drain plug is on the bottom of the pan and not the side right

My 89 ranger is the same way gets more oil out that way

I agree. I always get nervous when doing something new for the first time on my truck.
