Even if the fuse box in the engine bay isn't labeled carefully remove, inspect and re-insert them one at a time. You do have 4 wheel abs..mine does and it's a 2002. I had my brakes done a year ago..way overdue. The left rear had nothing left of the shoes..victim of parking brake cable seizure. All fixed the abs didn't appear to work anymore..never felt it since. I don't mind since I didn't like it anyway. No light though? I got new parking brake cables but after only a few months they didn't fully release. So I quit using them and always park in 1st gear.

Can't you use the adjustment wheel to back those shoes down? There will always be that rusty ridge on the inside edge that will hang up on even the most worn out shoes, but that wheel can dial those shoes way down. Just gotta keep doing quarter turns through the access slot till you get clearance.
Or are ya talking about something different. Yeah I probably typed all that an' your talking about something completely different.

Well all, I'll have the codes read this afternoon (hopefully around 5pm assuming they don't close early because of the holiday tonight).... and I'll let you know what they say.

As for the rear brakes... when my mechanic buddy and I were replacing the front brakes, hubs, and rotors, we decided to do the rear's as well... unfortunately they were so siezed on that even after using an impact vibration mount (to break away TONS of rust that was seized), we noticed that they still wouldn't come free without a blowtorch... and it will definately destroy some of the brake to get it off... which I'm ok with because after looking at how bad it is I want to remove and replace it anyways.

But as for my ABS, I'll let you know a bit later on where we stand.

I didn't see any response to the just replacing the ABS wiring harness, so here's the bad news. No, you can't just replace the wiring you have to buy the whole hub assy. I posted a link to WheelBearingWarehouse in the vendor review thread. They sell Timken (preferred), and a cheaper value assy.

So I got my truck scanned at autozone last night for you guys....

ABS CODE: #B1155
Reason: "Left front speed sensor, Circut Malfunction"

Any ideas on what this could be and how to fix it?

The sensor and wire is one unit and can be purchased separately for around 140 bucks (made by Duralast). For around 200 bucks you can get the wheel hub/sensor assembly made by Temkin that will also contain the pickup ring.

Before you buy anything... I have an 05 Escape and they have a bad habit of the sprocket looking thing on the hub that the sensor reads cracking and sliding far enough away that the sensor gets no reading. I don't think that is it because i've not seen it on here but it is worth a look see .

the 98+ 4x4 rangers dont have that sensor pick up sprocket, the sensor is built into the hub assembly. if the wiring has checked out to the hub than i would suspect a bad sensor in the hub.

Is there a way to fix this bad sensor without having to buy an entire brand new part?
