Looking for ideas
My son just bought a 97 ranger from his aunt, she lost the keys, and the engine dosn't run, so for now we just want to get it to our house, but our hangups are this.... trans is stuck in park, and the steering wheel lock.... I think i can disconnect the shifter from the end of the steering shaft (2 torx bolts) but what to do with the steering wheel lock (or is there not one) so i can pull it home with my 94 Bronco

Re: Looking for ideas
call a flat bed over to tow it, it will end up costing less than messing with the truck.

Re: Looking for ideas
Strip the shroud off the column and pull the lock, you're gonna have to, to get it re-keyed anyway. It's locked in park 'cause of the ignition switch. It has to unlock before it will get out of park.

Re: Looking for ideas
If you call a dealer and give them the VIN number they can cut a key for you.

Re: Looking for ideas
Only time I had a key cut that way it cost me 400 bucks, but he had to come to me. I believe it'd be cheaper togo to them!
