Default Disable "Courtesy Wipe" feature

Anyone know a way to disable it? Not Canadian friendly in the winter months... your nice clean windshield is smeared when following behind another vehicle on a snowy/slushy/salty/dirty highway. Ugh.

why disable something that you have to turn on when you want? wipers don't just come on automatically.

I still dont understand why they cant have a wiper system that when you hit the windshield washer, the washer fluid comes out before the wiper comes on.

and on the topic of windshield washer fluid, why in the hell cant they make a tank big enough to fit a whole bottle of fluid??

I think it's where you can push in on the wiper/turn signal handle and you'll get a single wipe. I use it to get the dew off my windshield.

Some cars used to have a seperate switch for the washer fluid but I haven't seen on cars in years. You could squirt some washer fluid on the windshield before turning on the wipers. Don't know why they did away with that feature.

If you push the wiper arm in it will spray fluid on your windshield and the blades will make 3 sweeps, stop for 3 seconds (just enuf time for more salt and dirt to splash on your windshield from the vehicle in front of you) and then make a final "courtesty wipe" which smears the new sediment.

It's not unusual to be spraying your windshield off every 30 - 60 seconds during a commute on the highway during some winter conditions. You can go through a lot of washer fluid on a single commute purely out of necessity. Not sure what winter conditions are like in your area...

A work-around I've now learned is to manually turn your wipers on during the third pass and then quickly back off... cancels the delayed courtesy wipe. Problem solved.

none of my rangers or my F-150 have ever done the delayed last wipe thing that you describe, i wonder if somethings wrong with yours. also if your having to spray you windshield every 30 seconds you are following too close to the car ahead of you. do you use rain-x or anything?

I've been driving for 20 years with no accidents... and I live in south central ontario where it's not unusual to be travelling in traffic 4 lanes wide in either direction. Following too closely is not the issue. It's a way of life in some areas.

No, the "courtesy wipe" feature is clearly outlined in the manual.
