Unhappy New engine

Well it started out on wednesday night I was driving down the highway and my cel started blinking, I washed my engine bay that morning so I figured I just got water somewhere that it didn't belong. The light was on all weekend but the truck seemed fine. Then I was driving home last night and it started running rough for a while on and off while I was on the highway, but then once I got off it really started shaking. I needed to drive it 300 miles back to school today so I woke up early and took it to the Ford dealership and they did some diagnostics. I think the codes said misfires in 3 and 5 and the coil was cracked so they put a new one on and that took care of the 3 but the 5 was still misfiring. So they did a compression test and found that compression in two of my cylinders had real low compression and another one wasn't so great.

They said that it had some internal problems but they didn't know what. They said the engine could last me anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. I took it for a quick spin around the lot and it was running real rough. So i figured I see what my options were. They said to tear it apart and try to fix it would be expensive and they weren't sure what they could do. They suggested just getting a remanufactured engine and starting fresh. They told me it would be roughly $5000 with labor, and it will have a 3 year warrenty. I figured for what I would pay for a comparable truck, I might as well get the new engine. I have 70,000 on my truck but the transmission was replace right before I bought it so it only has 30,000 thousand and now I'll have a new engine, so hopefully this truck will last me.

So now I'm in the hole five grand and I'm marooned out at school with out my truck, so that sucks. Hopefully when I get home in three weeks it will be as good as new.

Wow! What a bummer indeed!
For the price quoted are they giving you anything for your old engine?
Most engine reman places do give you something for your old one.
If not, then keep your old engine and sell to someone wanting a engine to build and recoop a little of your money.
