Default Is this fuel filter ok?

I went and got a new fuel filter to replace mine with and I was getting ready to install it when I realized they were different sizes. I double checked that I grabbed the right filter (got it at Autozone) and it is according to their books and what I could find online. Does the size difference really matter? I'm not sure if the inlet/outlet size is the same or not.

Mine was the same way.

If I recall correctly you cant put the lines on wrong. They will only go on one way. Each end is a diferent size.

Yeah, what I was saying is I don't know if the new inlet is the same as the old inlet or the new outlet the same as the old outlet. If yours was the same I guess I'll give it a try unless someone tells me otherwise.

What was the part number autozone gave you? What brand filter is it?

I work at Jiffy lube and we do all kinds of fuel filters. YOU CAN PUT IT ON BACKWARDS! there should be a little arrow printed on the filter that says FLOW. and just make sure that points away from the tank. Other than that I wouldn't worry all to much.

I used CarQuest filters and a few years back the size slightly changed from OE but the inlets and outlets were the same size. As long as the inlets and outlets match your old one and the snap connectors fit then it should be good to go.

It will not go in backwards. I have an 02 3L and your pics look just like mine. The tank side of the filter has two inlet/outlets and they are different sizes. The engine side of the filter has just one outlet. Its just plug and play.

Just be careful as you change it out becuase the plastic lines are fairly fragile and can't take much bending.

Thanks everyone for letting me know. I'm not at all worried about putting it in backwards. Three lines in different areas would be pretty hard to get mixed up.

Yeah, I'll pass on that. I'd like to keep my engine if I get a little bad gas...

Everybody has a chance of getting some particles in their gas tank no matter where you get your gas.

Do you clean the pump nozzle every time you get gas?

I can assure you that's not true. Every modern EFI vehicle comes with a fuel filter.
