Default Air Blows out through door handles

I don't know if ALL Rangers have this problem, but mine blows air through door handles. As long as I have A/C or Heat blower on, the air blows out. I bought it used, so I don't know the history, but I thought if both doors do it, it must me common.

there is no vent connection between the dash and the door panels in a ranger. so it's either coming from outside (bad seals) of just the angle of the vents in the dash make it feel like it's coming from the door handles.

What year truck do you have?

My 2005 has done that since the day I bought it brand new off the lot. With the remote start and the heat on it helps open the door easier in icy weather.

A few ideas come to mind...
1. It's to equalize the cabin air pressure to be the same as the outside air pressure. Helps relieve sinus pressure.
2. It provides added cabin noise so it sounds like you're traveling faster than your really are.
3. It's an air-o-dynamic door handle. Notice the special shape of said handle.
4. It's to relieve cabin pressure when you crank up your sound system with the windows up. To prevent from blowing out your windows!

Really though, every Ranger I've been in does this! All three of them!
My new Ranger does it but not as much as my friends 2002.

It's perfectly normal. They all do that. If you look on the lower left of the door panel inside, you will see vents. There is a one-way flapper in there. When you have the air vents on a setting other than MAX AC, it is drawing air in from outside and blowing it in. If the cab was sealed, that wouldn't work. Those vents let air escape into the door and out the door handle.

it's a 2005 Edge; 3.0; AT
well, apparently ALL Rangers blow air to the outside through door handles. I've never had a vehicle that did that.

All vehicles have an outlet/exhaust for inside air. It is a safety device. If the vehicle cabin was hermetically sealed, air would not be able to circulate and passenger could suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning. Some have this exhaust area in the rear, but it can be located in any area of the cabin.

Its nothing to do with safety or CO. It's basic air balance. No different than a forced air heating/cooling system in a house or other compartmented building.
