Default Brake upgrade???

I have been doing a lot of searching and how found that I can convert from my rear drums to mustang disk.

But my question is, will mustang brakes fit on the front of a 2000, 4x4, 3.0l Ranger? I have always been told that the majority of your stopping power comes from you front brakes, so why change the back without the front.

Also it would just look nice to have matching brake front and rear.

That is correct, front brakes account for about 70 percent of your braking power. The reason you do the rear swap is to get rid if the drum setup. A caliper and rotor setup will always out perform a drum setup. Some guys do switch the front out for drilled or slotted rotors and that seems to help some. However I don't know too many that upgrade the entire front brake setup unless they do the 302 conversion.

Thanks for the reply. If the fronts won't fit that's fine. Just wanted to get some insight before I tracked them down and spent money for parts I couldn't use.

i could be wrong on this but im pretty sure you would see no improvement from stock parts from a mustang. Rotors i believe are close to the same size and I dont know what year you are looking at but I think the calipers were single pistons in the mid 90s compared to a rangers dual piston.

For increased stopping the best things is drilled slotted rotors, ceramic pads, and switching to stainless steel brake lines makes a very noticeable difference in stopping power and response.

Thanks again guys. I guess it will be better equipment up front and switching to the disks in the rear.

You all have been super helpful.
