Default 2010 Ranger vibration?

Just bought new Ranger XLT Supercab with 4 banger and manual with 11 miles on odometer. Test drove it around the block (should know better), but had just driven 4 hrs to get it because local dealer didn't have a manual. Everything looked good and I'd read on several forums that these trucks were almost bulletproof. On the way back home it had a high speed vibration that seemed to get more noticeable as I drove.
Took it to my local dealer to have tires checked, and was told that Ford had a TSB that said the truck had to have 500 miles before they would pay for any tire/suspension work. No problem with that but would like to see the TSB just for my records if this gets worrisome fixing the vibration.
Of course if I had noticed this on a test drive it would have been fixed before I bought it. The vibration is very noticeable at the top of 3rd & 4th and at 60+ in 5th.
If it's just a tire then no problem, just some time wasted; but if it's the drive shaft or the design then big problems. I have spent many $$ and hours on another model to solve a vibration and am getting tired of it. Anyone have a similar problem? Just looking for a "heads up". Thanks for any replies!

Did you look at the tires to see if there were any problems. Also check to see if they all have weights.

I would say to take it back to the dealer you bought it from but 4 hrs is a problem. Maybe you can call them explain it and the whole TSB deal and they can get you into a dealer closer.

Weights on tires look OK. Busted belt is a good possibility because if seemed to get worse the more I drive. Tires I can fix-drive shaft is never fixed right. Nothing to do but put a few more miles on and hope it gets worse so they can find the problem.

TSB?..you have a new truck with warranty..and a potentially dangerous problem. The local dealer may be ticked that you didn't buy it there. Maybe tomorrow have somebody drive it slow while another walks behind a little to the outside..just enough to see both wheels mostly from behind..on one side then on the other looking for something out of whack with a wheel. If that shows anything..check the lugs for tighteness..if OK..put your spare on that location. If nothing is seen I'd phone higher up in the Ford company and tell them about it.

you know i wouldn't be surprised if its the motor that causes the problem.. When i bought my truck back in 2009 i test drove the single cab sport with coil over suspension and a 4 banger.. and it would have a really bad vibration from the engine... and it would vibrate all the time.. and because of that i didn't buy it. I figured the motor mounts or something like that. I do remember reading somewhere that ford had a recall on all new rangers with a 4 banger for that problem. but since at a lower speed the engine speed changes all the time but on the highway.. once it hits that final gear i can see it getting worse with increased engine speed

Had a real small Ford dealer (didn't know they came that small) tell me that the vibration comes with the 4 cyl and manual transmission-said the fix was a 6 cyl and automatic. Is this true? Do all of the 4 cyl and 5 speed rangers vibrate when driving at a constant speed from about 30mph up? I bought this truck because they hadn't been changed in 10+ years and I didn't see any complaints to speak of. Anyone out there that has (or had) a significant vibration on a new Ranger? Thanks again for any posts!
PS: I have a 4 cyl 2005 New Beetle with 5 speed and it's as smooth as any automatic with any size engine.

I have a 2010 XLT, 4 cyl. auto and it does not vibrate at low or high speeds. Insist that the dealer look at it now, or take it to another dealer.

i believe that what the dealer told you was somewhat true... unfortunately. i know the dealership here had to replace all the engine mounts with better ones to help stop the vibrations... it didnt totally get rid of them but it did help alot. so i would look into something like that

I bought a set of BF Goodrich T/A long trail tour tires yesterday from my local Ford dealer. They finally checked the tires and found that 3 wouldn't force balance and offered to replace all 4, but only with the same Continentals. I opted to buy the BFG's and will get 4 new Continentals to sell as soon as they come in.
Big improvement! Probably 75% of the vibration is gone. Don't believe any of the vibration is from the motor or front end-just don't feel anything in the steering wheel. I'm beginning to think that the truck might have been strapped down too tight by the shipper(just a guess), but regardless something else is still causing a vibration. I've had too many full-sized trucks, diesel and gas, that had virtually no vibration.
The vibration left is now more like a skip; and, at least now, I can drive the truck. Anyone have any experiences fixing a vibration that wasn't tire or wheel related? Thanks for listening!

Bought a 2010 XLT 4 cylinder automatic that has a bad vibration in the engine at 2000 RPM. Was thinking maybe a motor mount.

the thing about 4 cyl and manual trannies vibrate is bulllchettt. my 2010 4 cyl manual tranny regular cab does not vibrate at all. I got it new and all is solid and smooth. if it vibrates even a little keep on taking it to different dealers and don't tell them youve been taking it to different dealers. it should not vibrate at all. you should have kept the stock continentals.... now if it vibrates stilll ford can easily blame the non continental tires... think a little bit man.

----------

hell , my 2010 ranger had a dash rattle and it got fixed under warranty no hassles no ifs and buttts nothing and its not even a safety driveability issue. if I was you I would be raising hell if it does not get fixed. My advice try a different dealer, be calm.... if all fails raise hell!! call FORD EVERYDAY!! SEND FORD EMAILS!!

I had a vibration, really a loud buzz I would have sworn came from the center of the dashboard. I have a 2003 Ranger. It turned out to be the plastic seal around the top part of the windshield. I washed the truck, noticed the loose seal, popped it back into place and no more vibration!
