Default Replacing PCM

Ok so my roommate's girlfriends Taurus, according to the local shop, has a bad PCM. Its a 2002 OHC. Could I grab a 2001 Taurus PCM (same engine) at the junkyard? Does it need to be flashed to her VIN or could it be plug in play?
